On December 28, 2024, Arusha’s streets came alive with Lyrics, Beats, and bold
creativity. Kaa Kijanja closed the year with a unique Arts Caravan, turning Rap,
music, and Street performance into a powerful voice against violence in the
community.
Art as a Force for Change
Under the theme “Say No to GBV for a Better Society”, the Arts Caravan brought
together over 48 Rap artists and performers, using their talent to educate and
inspire. Through their talents, they spoke out against Gender-Based Violence, Child
Abuse, and other forms of social oppression proving that creativity is not just
entertainment, but a tool for real transformation.
The Arts Caravan moved across five key wards of Arusha city: Unga Limited, Sinon, Murieti, Sombetini, and Ngarenaro. At each stop, open-air stages became classrooms of expression. Artists turned music and performance into lessons, sparking discussions, raising awareness, and connecting communities in a shared commitment to end violence. Using street language, rhythmic beats, and relatable stories, the messages were clear, accessible, and deeply impactful for youth, parents, leaders, and children alike.
Residents of Arusha turned out in force, participating in discussions, sharing personal testimonies, and learning practical ways to report or support victims of violence. Local leaders joined the dialogue, explaining systems in place to protect rights and ensure safety. Through art, silence was broken, voices were amplified, and hope was renewed.
Kaa Kijanja challenges everyone to take action:
The Kaa Kijanja Arts Caravan showed that art can transform lives, inspire action, and build stronger communities. This journey is just beginning—every street, every stage, every voice matters. Join the movement. Stand with us. Let art be your weapon for change.
